The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner & VERU (the Violence and Exploitation Reduction Unit) will be hosting a Youth Conference for all Year 9 students from across Bedfordshire.
The aim of the event is to reach youths who would like to be a part of the solution of the criminal justice system and help support those at the risk of offending.

Event: Youth Conference 2022
Date: Wednesday 18th – Friday 20th May 2022
Time: 9:30am – 3:00pm
Venue: The Rufus Centre, Steppingley Road, Flitwick, Beds, MK45 1AH
The schools will be split into locations:
Central Beds – Wednesday 18th May 2022
Bedford – Thursday 19th May 2022
Luton – Friday 20th May 2022
Topics we’d like to cover:
– How to report crime
– County Lines: Spot the Signs
– Domestic Abuse
– How to avoid getting involved in crime
– How can you help someone who is in a gang
– Drug Crime
– Knife Crime & consequences (include knife bin information)
– Bullying / Peer to peer pressure around gangs / society pressure
– Know your rights: Stop and Search
– Exploitation / Grooming
We are offering all schools a maximum of 20 student tickets to attend this event (and 2/3 teacher tickets).
The students will have an opportunity to browse the stalls at the event which will be organisations which cover the topics above.
