New Public Realm Depot for Biggleswade Town Council
Friday 23rd April 2021 marks a special day for Biggleswade Town Council (BTC) with the handover ceremony for our new Public Realm Depot. The event will take place between 13:00 and 14:00 and a small number of press and local government representatives have been invited to attend.
Located at 11 Eldon Way, the industrial unit will become the new home of the Council’s Public Realm Team. Comprising a large secure storage area for all our equipment, there is also an office, workshop area and vastly improved mess facilities for the team. The office will handle all requests from the public, stakeholders and councillors.
Serving as a permanent base for at least the next 15 years, the new depot is key to the further modernisation and expansion of the Public Realm Team.
The event has been carefully planned to ensure compliance with the government’s COVID-19 restrictions. At 12:00, Jonathan Woolley, Deputy Public Realm Manager, and Peter Tarrant, Town Clerk and Chief Executive, will meet will representatives of the landlord to formally take possession of the keys. Once the handover is complete, at 13:00, there will be a photo opportunity as Peter Tarrant hands over the keys to Madeline Russell, Mayor of Biggleswade.
Media representatives are invited to bring a professional photographer to the event to capture the perfect shot of this landmark moment for BTC. Please arrive just before 13:00 as we will be handed the keys and take over the lease of the building at this time.
Please note, attendees are asked to be mindful of the current government COVID-19 regulations at all times. Therefore, please bring a face mask as they will be required unless you have a pre-existing medical condition that prevents you from wearing one.
The opening of the new depot is in addition to the ongoing investment in our parks and open spaces as we strive to improve the quality of life of our residents. This has gained added importance during the COVID-19 pandemic as the health benefits of getting some fresh air have again come into focus.
