In December 2023, Tritax Symmetry allocated £57,700 of their Community Grant Funding for the improvement project of the Town Council’s Kitelands Recreation Ground. This phase involved completing the children’s play area first. Officers at the Town Council consulted with special needs schools such as the Ivel Valley School in selecting the equipment.
Following the completion of phase one, a set of flat swings, a set of cradle swings, a toddler multiplay unit, a spring seesaw, and a roundabout (which enables access of a wheelchair) were installed at the park.
When Tritax Symmetry gives the go-ahead for funding connected to the progression of the project, then the larger play area sections would be undergoing improvement.
In the interim, the Public Realm Team will install some benches in the area in the next two months.
A small opening ceremony to launch the equipment and thank Tritax Symmetry for their contributions, was recently postponed due to heavy rain. A new date will be announced soon.
