A D-Day Anniversary Event will be held on June 6th 2024, at the Market Square. The event will be a commemoration and celebration to remember the tens of thousands of allied forces who gave services 80 years ago.
Vintage military vehicles from the Shuttleworth Collection will be gracing the Market Square from 12pm onwards. This will be followed by a short service of remembrance at the War Memorial at 2pm.
The Bigg Theatre will be hosting a screening of the movie ‘The Longest Day’.
Food stalls will be selling their wares from 5pm onwards.
The day will conclude with the lighting of the beacon at 9.15pm, which will coincide with those around the country on the night.
