Restoration works have now begun to restore the historical 19th Century Cemetery Chapel to its original condition.
The project commenced on the 25th November 2022 with the erection of security fencing around the Chapel and central tower. The scaffolding has now been erected around the Chapel to allow the restoration works to begin.
A site visit was arranged for the 13th January 2023 which assessed the extent of high-level work to be completed.
The first phase of work is due to be completed by mid-March 2023, with ongoing works to be carried out over the next three years.
The focus in year one is on the roof repairs and high-level works, the entrance gates and the fire and security alarm installations.
Access to and around the Chapel building will be restricted for the duration of these works to ensure the health and safety of residents and construction workers. There is no limitation to access the Cemetery.
