Biggleswade Substation

UK Power Networks have been commissioned by Central Bedfordshire Council to develop, in conjunction with National Grid, a substation consisting of two compounds that will provide additional electricity capacity to the Biggleswade area to meet growing demand.

A provisional site to the north of Dunton Lane has been identified on land owned by Central Bedfordshire Council.

UK Power Network’s will shortly be starting preliminary ground investigations and environmental assessments to help inform the development of the proposals. A website has been created to share information with residents on this work: www.BiggleswadeSubstation.co.uk. UK Power Network plan to update the website over the coming months to set out the plans in more detail and explain how residents can get involved in the public consultation for the proposals.

UK Power Network have also appointed Marengo Communications, a specialist in community consultation, to help keep residents up to date with plans. They can be contacted using the Freephone number: 0800 689 5209 or by emailing info@BiggleswadeSubstation.co.uk. The Freephone line is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm; residents can leave a message outside of these times.
