Wonderful Community Celebration

It was an early start for Town Council staff on Friday as preparations began for this year’s Christmas Fair and Light Switch-On. By the time the festivities opened, the Market Square was transformed with a vibrant mix of food and drink vendors, gift stalls, and festive activities for visitors to enjoy throughout the day.

The stage was busy from morning onwards, with fantastic performances from local schools, including Edward Peake, Stratton School, and St Andrew’s.

They were joined by much-loved community groups such as The Biggleswade Amateur Theatrical Society (BATS), the Biggleswade Choral Society, and the Northill Singers, who all helped build a wonderful festive atmosphere leading up to the main event.

At 7pm, the Christmas lights were officially switched on by Rev. Liz Oglesby-Elong, the Mayor of Biggleswade, Jonathan Woodhead, and this year’s generous sponsors, Pelly Solicitors and Surfin Café. We are extremely grateful for their support in helping make this evening possible.

The celebrations continued into the night with brilliant performances from Somewhere to Sing, the cover band Under the Covers, and “Doing Elton,” an energetic Elton John tribute act that rounded off the entertainment in style.

A special thank you to Richard Southan, who captured some amazing moments of the day and evening. For more of Richard’s fantastic photos, click the link here
