The Full Council meets on a four-weekly cycle where all major policy items are discussed and agreed upon. Full Council considers all planning applications received, and its views are communicated to Central Bedfordshire Council as the Planning Authority.

The Council also has three Standing Committees which meet to discuss various items relating to the Town. These are Public Land and Open Spaces (PLOS), which deals with various items including recreational areas, playgrounds and sports pitches, cemeteries and allotments. The Town Centre Management Committee is responsible for all aspects of Town Centre operations and development, car parks and the Market. The Finance & General Purposes Committee handles all administration and general running of the Town Council finances and is responsible for the Council Offices and the Orchard Community Centre. Committees meet four times a year.
